The On-Air Foundation Course - A Partnership between RW and HCJB UK
This two week course focuses on the needs of Music radio.
It provides a grounding in radio programming principles, consolidated by
practical exercises. For the second week students are placed in teams to work
together, operating a live FM radio station broadcasting to the local
community and on the internet.
Who is it for?
The course is designed for Christians who want to explore the possibilities presented by
the expanding opportunities in local Radio in the UK. This course is ideal
for anyone working on or planning to work on a station licensed under the Restricted
Service Licence scheme in the UK.
No prior knowledge or experience is assumed for this foundation course.

How are the skills learned?
In the first week basic training is given in all the areas listed above. All participants
complete some simple assignments, demonstrating their understanding and competence.
In the second week participants work with fellow team-mates to run a local radio
station, which is live on air for 12 hours a day.
What can participants expect to gain?
An ability to demonstrate the basic skills of Recording and Editing sound, Script Writing
for radio, Interviewing, Teamwork, operating a station which includes News, Music
Presentaion and Feature making.
