UNITING BODIES

Groups that Help Christian Broadcasters Work Together

Working together makes good sense whichever way you look at it. The Bible sets it out as a principle of importance to the church so therefore not suprisingly, management experts also recognise the value of working together.

In Christian radio there is a history of effective co-operation through partnerships between radio groups, and through more formal multi-agency partnerships.

Global Connections was formerly known as the Evangelical Missionary Alliance. Its 'Radio Comittee' was an important forum for fellowship and co-operation between Christian radio groups in the UK. Radio Worldwide ran the EMA Radio Courses on their behalf during the '60s and RW's current Production Foundation Radio Course is almost a continuation of the old courses.
Though there is no longer a 'Radio Comittee' as such, many UK based Christian Radio groups value highly the fellowship and support that Global Connections supplies.

ACM - The Association of Christians in Media (UK) was formerly known as 'ACLB' or 'ACB'. This is the UK association allied to the The Churches’ Media Council. ACM is the network of Christian individuals and organisations involved in or relating to the media. ACM forms a point of contact particularly for all Christians in the media across the UK. Through its newsletter 'Cross Talk', an annual conference and the Andrew Cross Awards, ACM provides a forum for broadcasters from a wide selection of churches. RW is a corporate member of ACM in the UK.

ACB - The Association of Christians in Broadcasting (South Africa) seeks to bring evangelical broadcasters in South Africa together with the aim of promoting and improving Christian broadcasting. RW is a member, recognising its need for accountability as a foremost provider of broadcast training to Christians in the region.

ICTI - The International Communication Training Institute is ICMC's media education and training initiative. ICTI functions as a self-regulating partnership of agencies and individuals committed to raising the quality of media education and learning for Christians.

RAN - Radio Africa Network is an "initiative by Africa to reach Africa for Jesus Christ". RAN brings together churches in Africa that share a vision to use radio as a means of evangelism, and enables them to work with Christian organisations, ministries and individuals who are already leading the field. In our role as a broadcast training provider we have run a number of courses on their behalf.

2K+ International Sports Media is a cooperative, multi-national effort by a number of nonprofit agencies to provide coverage of major sporting events to community radio stations around the world. A Christian intiative, their material contains good quality sports coverage as well as a Christian perspective. 2K+ have supplied all the interviews used by RW on their sports pages on www.radioworldwide.net

iMEDIA is the latest name in independent Multi-Media Production in Yorkshire. The Company is designed to service the corporate industry with a range of media solutions. Based at Springhead Park House (RW's headquarters near Leeds), iMEDIA has a strong relationship with Radio Worldwide. iMEdia work closely with Bible Voice Broadcasting and Cross Rhythms, a local Christian station in Stoke-on-Trent.

Bible Voice Broadcasting is a Christian radio network who transmit the Gospel and teach Biblical truths to the Middle East, Africa, India, Asia and Europe, using powerful shortwave and local FM transmitters strategically located across the world. Much of the work of collating the material for broadcasting is done on their behalf by iMEDIA. Bible Voice airs 45 minutes of programming a week for RW. Much of the material collated by iMEDIA goes to Asia and this allowed RW to re-release the Hindi series Kahani Kiwan Ji (based on Christian Biographies) and also produce a new Hindi current affairs programme called Aaj Kal. The remaining fifteen minutes are used to air the English series The Storyteller to African Listners.
